Mold Analysis – Molds are microscopic fungi that are found naturally in the environment. Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on any organic substance, as long as moisture and oxygen are present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, foods and others. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings , mold growth will often occur. Mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling moisture. Mold spores occur in the indoor and outdoor environments. Mold spores may enter your house from the outside through open doorways, windows, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems with outdoor air intakes. Spores in the air outside also attached to people and animals, clothing, shoes, bags, and pets and enter the indoor environment.

Our Mold Analysis Services:

SPORE TRAPS
We analyze a variety of spore traps including Zefon AOC, Allergenco, Burkard, Cyclex , Micro 5 and VersaTrap.  Spore trap samples are analyzed with a compound light microscope..  Counts are derived by viewing 100% of the trace containing the spores and particles at 400X. Analysis includes identification to genus or group of all fungi present, quantification to spores/m3.

DIRECT MICROSCOPIC EXAMS:
Direct examinations offer fungal spore identification and semi-quantitative analysis. This category of test includes the examining of spores collected on tape slides, swabs and bulk.  We typically will view a 2 cm2 area on a tape.  Swabs are rubbed onto a tape to view the contents.  Tape lift prepared from the bulk samples and examined. Analysis includes a determination of whether spores present are indicative of mold growth or simply a mix of spores coming in from the outside . If mold growth is present, analysis includes identification to genus or group and a qualitative assessment of the amounts present.

We serve: Mold Inspectors, Home Inspectors, Remediation Contractors, IAQ Inspectors, Industrial Hygienists, CIH, ACGIH and Realtors.
